a perspective on PR in social housing and regeneration

Bath’s news hits the headlines

I’ve been with the BBC in Bath today, who have covered a major announcement about the Homes and Communities Agency’s investment in one of the South West’s most important regeneration projects.

My colleague David Warburton was joined by Bath and North East Somerset Council leader Francine Haeberling and director John Betty for morning interviews with broadcast crews outside the Bath Western Riverside development.

The Beeb were there to see how the agency’s £6m investment in the project will impact on the largest brownfield regeneration site outside London, delivering affordable housing and infrastructure improvements.

It’s great news, which has also generated national coverage today, and caps a huge amount of work by colleagues, the Council and site owners Crest Nicholson.

But looking at the site from the Homebase car park in Pines Road today, it’s clear that the really hard work has only just begun. The radio journalist with us today couldn’t help raise an eyebrow when he was told that the project could take 30 years to complete. It will not be the last time it hits the headlines.

I’m glad for now though that we were able to hit the right notes with the coverage generated today. Here are some images of the scheme (courtesy of Crest Nicholson) along with some I have taken from the visit.
